Here are some tips to keep your back moving well during this snow storm:
Warm Up - walk around the house/block to help warm up your muscles.
Don’t Let Snow Pile Up - frequent shovelling will allow you to move smaller amounts each time you are out.
Pick the Right Shovel - using a lightweight shovel as it will help decrease the amount of weight you are moving. Spraying your shovel with a teflon spray/vegetable spray will help prevent snow from sticking.
Push, Don’t Throw - this will prevent you from lifting heavy loss and abrupt twist or turns.
Bend Your Knees - use your arm and leg muscles to push the load. Ensure your back is straight when shovelling.
Take Breaks - when you feel tired or short of breath, take a break and shake out your arms and legs to recharge.
