HANDS ON CARE
Care for jaw pain/TMJ in the office can include:
Muscle Release - this helps release tension in the musculature surrounding the jaw. This will allow the muscles to relax, which can help increase the mobility of the joint.
Joint Manipulation - manipulation and mobilization of the join will help free up any restrictions. This helps increase the range of motion of the joint.
Rehabilitation - Dr. Anita looks at the surrounding joints and musculature. Any imbalances in the head, neck and shoulders can trigger jaw pain. Working on the supporting structures can assist in decreasing pain and increasing mobility.
OTHER CARE
Posture - poor posture can trigger a forward head position and excessive stress on the muscles and bones of the spine. In addition, the added stress can can impact the jaw as well.
Orthotics - long-standing lower extremity imbalances can trigger stress and imbalance of the neck and it's supporting structures (TMJ included).
