Sometimes there is nothing better than a good night's sleep. Getting seven to eight hours of sleep is not always possible and may leave you tired through-out the day. Here are some ways to improve the quality of your sleep.
Pick a Good Mattress
Your mattress should be flexible enough to adapt to your body's shape, but firm enough to support your spine.
Test Your Pillow
Your pillow should keep your head and neck in line with your spine. This is where testing out different pillows can be beneficial. With so many different types check out memory foam fibre or even feather.
Don't Sleep on Your Stomach
We recommend sleeping on your back or side. This allows for your head, neck and spine to relax into their natural alignment and reduces the stress and strain on your muscles and joints.
Low Back Pain?
Look at your sleeping position! If you sleep on your back, put a pillow under your knees to take some of the pressure off your back. Side-sleepers can benefit by putting a pillow between their knees for support.
Get to Bed on Time
Go to bed at the same time every night - even on the weekends. This helps keep your sleep cycle in a regular rhythm. Avoid naps, but if you have to nap - limit them to 30 minutes.
Help Your Body Wind Down
Avoid caffeinated beverages, heavy meals, alcohol and vigorous exercise a few hours before sleep.
Light Up Your Life!
Open the curtains/blinds soon after your wake up. Natural light can help regulate your natural biological clock.
