Chronic conditions, like arthritis, can make daily tasks painful and difficult to complete.  Small things like holing on to the computer mouse, or cutting vegetables to bigger tasks like getting groceries or doing household chores.  These conditions may limit your range of motion, muscular strength and ability to do day-to-day activities, alternative treatments, like chiropractic care, may help keep you moving.  Manual therapies can help alleviate the pains that come with the condition and help restore some range of motion.  In the office we talk about “use it, or lose it”! The notion that inactivity will lead to muscle atrophy (aka., muscle weakening and shrinking).  This starts a negative feedback loop, where pain with movement will cause loss of muscle strength, which will lead to a decrease in range of motion! We use prescribed exercises, strengthening, postural awareness, balance and co-ordination training t0 help.  While the goal is not to produce more pain, we work to get over the “it hurts, so I won’t do it” mentality.

Controlled movements, like weights, low-impact aerobics and swimming can all help to get you moving again, with less pain.  Pilates and yoga are great alternatives when limited range of motion is an issue.  Chiropractic care can also help with loss of range of motion.
As a chiropractor I am committed in helping you be more physically active. We can evaluate your flexibility and strength while screening your physical ability.  Our goal is to individualize a treatment and exercise plan for you.  Remember we want take away, not add to the pain you maybe experiencing.

If you are suffering from a chronic condition, like arthritis, chiropractic care may provide you with relief. Brampton chiropractor Dr. Anita Chopra is here to help. Call 416-873-4218 to book your appointment.
